Stannic Oxide

Stannic Oxide, also known as tin(IV) oxide or cassiterite, is a widely used inorganic compound. It's the most stable oxide of tin and occurs naturally as the mineral cassiterite.

Chemical Formula: SnO₂

Appearance:  A white, odorless, and insoluble solid

Uses:

• Electronics and Optoelectronics: It combines optical transparency with electrical conductivity, making it ideal for these applications.

• Ceramics and Glass Industry: Stannic oxide can be used as a ceramic glaze or pigment in the production of ceramic tiles, pottery, and glassware.

• White Pigment: It is used as a white pigment in paints, coatings, and plastics.

• Polishing Agent (Limited): Limited historical use as a polishing agent due to its abrasive nature.

• Cosmetic and Personal Care Industry: Acts as catalyst or catalyst support in chemical reactions and processes, including oxidation, hydrogenation, and esterification.
